On February 14, 2014 – Valentine’s Day (!) during our AGE UP session we talked and discussed about sexuality and gender. We had guest speakers Sonny, Gabe and Jhanelle come in to our session. We started with the basic introduction of each other using name, pronoun and musical guilty pleasure. The activities we started with were a “vocabulary test” on sexuality and gender, words like nonbinary, transexuality, gender essentialism and many more.
We also thought that the clay model was fun which was getting a person to figure themselves into a word that we be described as like man, women or gay. For example we had Kenzo dress and pose as a women and explain it; This activity was based on what society thinks and sees of people. Everyone is different and you have to accept who we are as a person. This session taught us that people make fun of others because of their attraction to another and it has given us a deeper concept of sexuality and the meaning behind it. We as a whole really enjoyed this session it was interesting but fun at the same time. Thank you Sonny, Gabe and Jhanelle for giving us this experience and knowledge for the future.
Afterwards we went to the gym to learn about handler movement from superstar guest coaches Doug and Chris!
