Yo what up lovely readers!!! This is Miko reporting live on the AGE UP blog!!! Yeah, so just a little background this was the first retreat with the AGE UP boys! It was held at Camp Long from March 1st to March 2nd. It was an amazing experience! It was a super nourishing in all realms of nourishment! Food, mentally, and all of that jazz! Well this is enough of me talking, ima throw to some members of Boys AGE UP to talk about some specific experiences during their time there. More soon as we start coaching elementary schoolers this spring!
The ropes course was fun and challenging, plus it tested the level of trust within every person. Not only was it fun it was funny because one of the AGE UP members said something really funny and even thought he didn’t make it the first 2 trys. He kept going #larrythelobster -stephen
WHOOO! THE SEXISM WORKSHOP WAS DOPE!!! AGE UP got some amazing workshops. This was one of em. Miko gave us HILARIOUS skits for us to act out that showed an example of sexism and stereotypes about sexism in everyday life but.. bro, THIS STUFF WAS FUNNY AS H*LL!!!! Miko also made a challenge with us which was that if we laugh, we wouldn’t get any Mochi Ice cream…WHO DON’T LIKE MOCHI ICE CREAM?!!?! Like everyone tried to make em laugh and people who were acting were just looking up and about to die. It was helluh funny and turnt upppp. I thought the skits Miko set up were really interesting and true because I see these skits happen in everyday-life and after he explained the meanings, Miko showed us ways to react in a healthy/meaningful way. And in the end, we all got Mochi, which was bomb after chillin in a hot room. Overall, this was helluh funny and chill too. #UBUBUBU…UBUBUBU…UUUUUUUBUNTOOOOOOO -Ivan (AKA-Great Wall of China)
Shoutout to my guy Meeks miko for the Drake Session. Well this session was about sharing your most important item to the group. The session was really deep. It was about 4 hours long. There was a lot of tears that were shed that night. Everybody there was trust worthy because people had shared some deep ish. The experience was great I got to learn a lot about people’s personal life it was good hearing them express their feelings. Thanks for taking time to read this… UBUNTU 3HUNNID$$$ – Abdulgani
Dance jeopardy was really fun and emotional. It was a good experience to bond with everybody, and see everyone smile while we showed our silly side. I could tell in that moment that everyone was just so focused and didn’t really have another thought in their mind about anything else. Personally I hope that I get to have more moments like that just in life with other people outside of AGE UP. It was probably my favorite part of the retreat. -Cornelius
More about dance Jeopardy: I learned that I really, really, really couldn’t dance. It was fun to see all these people that I didn’t know very well just letting loose and having a fun side. Some people who I see as pretty serious were twerking and hitting the nae nae, which everyone found hilarious. Overall, it was great, with everyone smiling, laughing, and having a good time until late. While my team had an amazing total of 0 points (mostly my fault), we kept going and smilling. #rexisthebestdancer #heknowseverything -Morgan
The first time at age up was cool at the retreat because it was a time where everyone bonded. Like me I bonded a lot with friends that I wasn’t really close to. It was really fun walking around and doing new stuff with new friends, like going rock climbing. -Marc
IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. I liked the bonding between my fellow peers and me. Also the different activities allowed me to get on a deeper level than just ultimate player with some of the people. -amanze
