Janyla Chavez is from Seattle and raised in the South Seattle community. Janyla recently graduated from South Seattle Community College and will now be attending North Seattle Community College. She has been playing ultimate since 7th grade. She was inspired to have the opportunity to shine the light, teaching the love of ultimate, and giving back to the local community. Her favorite part of camp is seeing the kids from all different ages, multicultural, and different schools.

“It’s like a big family, we’re all together. Every time we get together, everyone knows each other somehow, and it’s always good vibes with each other,” Chavez said.

Dennis Casio recently graduated from Western Washington University. He started playing Ultimate at Aki Kurose Middle School (“go peace crane”). He also plays for the Seattle Cascades and has been playing for about 12 years. Dennis favorite part about the frisbee camp are the ladies, because all of the girls are so talented and so skilled at ultimate! The kids are the future, and Dennis wants to build on that and make a change for the ultimate community!

“The ladies are ballers,” Casio said.

Evander is from South Seattle and started playing ultimate at Asa Mercer Middle School. His brother was one of the first people that got ultimate really popping (popular) at Mercer middle school. Evander loves coaching because of the kids, and being able to challenge them to do better. Giving the campers a safe place to have fun is the most important thing for him. His favorite part of the camp is the people that he calls family. He wants to make a difference in the ultimate community and be a coach that he always wanted when he was younger!

Earl found his other passion: teaching and sharing his love of the game with young campers.

“My favorite part about the camp are the kids and the volunteers. The kids wanna be out here. None of parents didn’t sign them up. They actually asked their parents to be signed up,” Le said.
