’23 Summer Internship – RETREAT!

For this year’s summer internship retreat, we drove 4 hours SE to Walla Walla, WA and Pendleton, OR – thanks for driving Sam, Hana, Ari, and Ash!

We visited Ari’s alma mater, Whitman College! There, we did a campus tour and spoke with an admissions officer about the college application process.

Hana taught us how to play grits – it’s basically like beach volleyball but with a frisbee!

Part of our retreat was spent at the Tamástslikt Cultural Institute in Pendleton, OR, where we spent time learning about the past, present and future of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla.

We learned how to use the Atlatl – a hunting tool that predates the bow and arrow. Let’s just say our group wasn’t too successful in gathering food…
